VA was accepted as a member of the Society of Friends ; she remained a Quaker during the remaining two months of her life.

As a child, VA was a fervent Anglo-Catholic, following her mother's example. Later in life she became a Roman Catholic , struggled with her Catholicism, and eventually became a Quaker .
