MS was the first Black collective member of Sheba Feminist Publishers ; at that time she began working to establish the Blackwomen's Creativity Project .

MS and photographer Ingrid Pollard founded the Blackwomen's Creativity Project , to facilitate the production and dissemination of work by Black women.

MS edited Passion: Discourses on Blackwomen's Creativity: prose and poetry by a number of Black women and photographs by Ingrid Pollard , to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Blackwomen's Creativity Project .
