Fanny Kingsley

Fanny Kingsley 's literary activity centres around the life of her husband, the writer and clergyman Charles Kingsley. She edited his letters for publication after his death, as well as several volumes of his religious writings. Her biography of him was wildly successful in the 1870s and 1880s, and remained continuously in print until 1983.

Almost two years after her husband's death, FK released what amounts to her biography of him: Charles Kingsley: His Letters and Memories of His Life, in two volumes bearing the imprint of Henry S. King and Co . The title page, dated 1877, identifies her only as editor.

FK edited and published From Death to Life: Fragments of Teaching to a Village Congregation, her final selection of Charles Kingsley's sermons and letters on life after death.

FK died at her home, Tachbrook Mallory in Warwickshire, on this date or the day before, aged seventy-seven, after years of heart disease.
The record of her effects says she died on the 11th, but the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography says the 12th, as does the Daily News.
