Very little has survived of CB 's writing, done (if at all) early in the seventeenth century, and none attributed without doubt. There is fairly strong circumstantial evidence of her authorship of a single, very brief, satirical essay published after her early death.

13 December 1613

A poem, The Wife, posthumously attributed to Sir Thomas Overbury , was entered in the Stationers' Register. It appeared next year with extraneous material, some of it written by several women, who included Anne, Lady Southwell , and probably CB .
