MS was a later eighteenth-century poet in the Augustan tradition, who says she also wrote a great deal of prose.

Mary Belt (later MS ) was baptised in London. She was probably born shortly before this, apparently an only surviving child.

MS 's Poems on Various Subjects and Occasions was published with her name (Mrs. Savage) in two small volumes, From the Author's Manuscript, in the Hands of the Editor.

At the time of her death MS was listed as executrix of her husband 's will, but she died this year whereas he survived until 1789. His will was proved in August that year.
