EFG , poet and translator, was born as Edward Purcell at Bredfield House, Bredfield, near Woodbridge in Suffolk, the youngest but one in a family of eight.

Biography

He was not yet ten when his family surname was changed from Purcell to FitzGerald, a patrician Irish name which he himself always disliked.
