Rosalind Coward

RC is the author or co-author of nine books and many articles, ranging in subject from critical and feminist theory through cultural analysis to biography. Her important works of the late 1970s and the 1980s mainly examine the complexities of gender inequality. Since the late 1990s, especially in her journalism, she has shown increasing concern for general human welfare and for the environment. She is a careful reader of culture, acutely able to examine the socially circulated images and texts in relation both to their psychological impacts on individuals and to the material conditions against which they have force for a particular place and time.
