From her girlhood in the later eighteenth century, CC had the habit of writing meditations, prayers, and poems on occasions in her life. As an adult she published a single historical novel. She planned to follow this with others, but they did not materialise.

Cassandra Leigh (later CC ) was born at Oxford (according to a date submitted to FamilySearch), the much younger of two surviving sisters.

CC 's single novel, Battleridge: An Historical Tale, Founded on Facts, which appeared as by a Lady of Quality, was advertised for sale. She did not intend this to be an only publication, but apparently it was.
