Ellen Mary Clerke

EMC , active during the second half of the nineteenth century, was a well-known linguist who published translations of Italian verse. In addition, she wrote poetry, published a novel, and was a frequent contributor to several periodicals.

EMC was born at Skibbereen in County Cork, Ireland; she was the eldest of three children.
Skibbereen is sometimes called the capital of West Cork.
