China provided a centre not only for
's life but also for her writing. Of her nineteen works, published in the first half of the twentieth century, most describe her experiences as a traveller, and all are influenced by her missionary work. She is sole author of only one book;
is co-author of her others. Although she wrote biographies, children's books, and missionary guides,
