EB 's works, all opportunistic money-raisers, are pamphlets of many different kinds, dating from the early nineteenth century. Their production was closely connected with her career as a stage performer. Some are in verse, while others draw on the genres of autobiography, allegory, sermon, and satire. Some are undated, and many went through a series of allegedly new editions which are probably re-issues; almost all recycle material she had already printed.
