Pioneer Players

EC founded the Pioneer Players , a women's theatre company comprised of amateurs and professionals, as a result of her work on Cicely Hamilton 's A Pageant of Great Women.

At the Ninth Annual General Meeting of The Pioneer Players (founded by EC ), members voted to dissolve the society because of financial problems and lack of support.

Later that year it toured provincial suffrage societies for the Actresses' Franchise League , under the direction of Edith Craig . It eventually became a staple piece for Craig's Pioneer Players .

The pageant moved into the twenty-first century with a production by Anna Birch on 7 May 2011 at the conference that celebrated the Pioneer Players at the University of Hull .

It later became part of the Pioneer Players ' repertoire. Often presented as a curtain-raiser for the Pageant of Great Women, the piece reproduced and satirized anti-suffragist stereotypes of women.

CH 's dialect play The Home of Vision (one of her only two dramatic pieces to be performed in London over the course of her career) was acted by Edith Craig 's Pioneer Players .
