AT was engaged in writing her first version of the life-story which she called "My first Booke of my Life", designed to vindicate her own conduct against slander. It became the first stage in a project of several parts.
AT died at East Newton
, a house built by her and her husband in August 1662.
AT's later, expanded version of her Autobiography
or "Book of Remembrances" was first published, by the Surtees Society
, but considerably expurgated.
