Winifred Holtby's posthumous reputation is based on her final novel, South Riding, published after her death. During her lifetime, she was better known as a prominent journalist, invited by Virginia Woolf in February 1935 to write her autobiography for the Hogarth Press. Bibliographic Citation link.
