Hannah Griffitts was a remarkably forceful and plangent Philadelphia lyric poet. Her life spans the time of the American war of independence. More than two hundred of her surviving poems and a large body of letters, remain very largely in her atrocious manuscript and have yet to be studied. Bibliographic Citation link.
