Although or because she was harrassed by poverty, Selina Davenport published, between 1813 and 1834, eleven novels (mostly with the Minerva Press) which the Feminist Companion calls "effective if stereotyped," Bibliographic Citation link. as well as mostly unidentified short fiction.
Milestones
27 June 1779 Selina Wheler (later SD) was born in London, apparently out of wedlock. Bibliographic Citation link.
After April 1834 SD published her final work, Personation. A Novel, dedicated to "The Travellers' Club" and to "succourers of the destitute" in memory of her relation to the late Sir George Wheler, Baronet. Bibliographic Citation link.
A little before mid-July 1859 SD died at Knutsford, aged eighty. She was buried in the parish church there on 14 July. Bibliographic Citation link.
