The publishing career of Jessie Ellen Cadell, scholar and novelist, opened in 1876, less than a decade before the end of her short life. Her single identified critical essay and one of her novels appeared during that decade, but her second novel and her scholarly verse translation of Omar Khayyáam were posthumously published. She never completed her projected history of India.
