Very little has survived of Cicely Bulstrode's writing, done (if at all) early in the seventeenth century, and none attributed without doubt. There is fairly strong circumstantial evidence of her authorship of a single, very brief, satirical essay published after her early death.
Milestones
Shortly before 12 February 1584 CB was born, at or near Beaconsfield, where on this day she was baptised. She was one of ten children. Bibliographic Citation link.
4 August 1609 CB died at Lady Bedford's house in Twickenham, Middlesex. Bibliographic Citation link.
13 December 1613 A poem, The Wife, posthumously attributed to Sir Thomas Overbury, was entered in the Stationers' Register. It appeared next year with extraneous material, some of it written by several women, who probably included CB. Bibliographic Citation link.
