Emilie Barrington published three novels (all either early or late in her writing career, which spans the nineteenth and twentieth centuries), a religious work, and a travel book, but she made her name as the author of biographies and other scholarly work about several prominent men with whom she was personally connected. scholarly note link.

1884 EB compiled a critical catalogue of paintings by George Frederic Watts for an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York—which she herself had persuaded Watts to agree to. Bibliographic Citation link.
