Writing and Life
Works By
Jane Owen, a scholarly Roman Catholic of the early seventeenth century, left a single religious work which was published after her death. Her rhetorical style includes elements of the sermon and the dialogue, as well as translation.
JO's date of birth, some time during the later sixteenth century, is unknown. It is not at all clear how old she was when she wrote her published text (though she is comfortable with an authoritative tone) or how long it waited for publication after being written.
After 1625 JO had died within the past nine years when her book was published in 1634. Bibliographic Citation link.
1634 JO had died at some time within the last nine years when her work Antidote against Purgatory was published with her name: almost certainly in Continental Europe, perhaps by the English College Press at St Omer in France. Bibliographic Citation link.
