A poet, children's writer, and short-story writer from the late twentieth century, Meiling Jin has been included in anthologies and is taught in courses on colour in Britain because of her trenchant autobiographical and social exploration of race issues. As well as writing poetry and short stories, she is also a radio broadcaster and a film maker. She has written and produced a play and has worked on a serial for radio soap opera. 1956 MJ was born in Guyana (which was then a colony named British Guiana) to Chinese parents. She was one of several children. (She mentions a sister and brother in Gifts from My Grandmother). Bibliographic Citation link.
